What should you do if your vehicle is over three years old?
Correct Answer: Take it for an MOT every year
If your vehicle is over three years old, it must pass an MOT test every year. The MOT (Ministry of Transport test) is a mandatory annual safety and emissions check required for all vehicles aged three years or older.
The test checks key components including brakes, lights, steering, tyres, exhaust emissions and seatbelts. Without a valid MOT certificate, it is illegal to drive the vehicle on public roads (except to drive to a pre-booked MOT appointment). An MOT certificate is also required to tax the vehicle.
