To whom do new citizens have to swear or affirm loyalty as part of the citizenship ceremony?
Correct Answer: The King
As part of the citizenship ceremony, new citizens must swear or affirm loyalty to the Queen (now the King).
The Oath of Allegiance is: "I [name] swear by Almighty God that on becoming a British citizen, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, his heirs and successors, according to law."
Those who prefer not to make a religious oath may make a solemn affirmation with the same content.
