There is no difference. The Life in the UK test IS the citizenship test. The Home Office requires the same test for both ILR and British citizenship.

Who Needs to Take It?

  • Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) applicants
  • British citizenship (naturalisation) applicants

Who Is Exempt?

  • Under 18
  • Over 65
  • Long-term physical or mental condition
  • Already passed the test previously

The Test Is Identical

Whether for ILR or citizenship: 24 questions, 45 minutes, 18/24 to pass, £50.
